Vale, one of the shareholders of Companhia Siderúrgica do Pecém (CSP), has donated 15,600 rapid test kits, 200,000 triple-layer face masks and 2,000 PFF2 respirators to the Ceará State Government as a means to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Ceará. All supplies have already been handed over to the Ceará State Office of Health, the agency in charge of distributing supplies to health centers across the state.
This is yet another donation amid a series of initiatives by Vale to support town halls and state administrations all over Brazil in the fight against COVID-19.
CSP donated R$ 1.5 million to combat coronavirus in the state, by means of a campaign organized by the Ceará Industries Federation (FIEC) called Saving Lives, for procuring respirators and other hospital equipment and supplies. Moreover, the company handed out 2,000 kits containing face masks and hygiene supplies to healthcare workers in seven São Gonçalo do Amarante and Caucaia health centers. Adding to these contributions is Dongkuk Steel, also a shareholder of CSP, with the donation of 20,000 surgical masks to the State Government.
Prevention for employees
CSP has taken a series of preventive measures and is keeping in place a dedicated coronavirus committee. Actions concerning hygiene, distancing, body temperature checks, remote work, mass testing, and others have been implemented with the aim of protecting the company’s employees. All these actions can be viewed on our website www.cspecem.com.
