The purpose of the  new cycle is to prepare Ceará businesses to be suppliers of steel mills, other industries in the Pecém Complex and throughout the state

The Companhia Siderúrgica do Pecém (CSP – (steel mill company)) gathered, this Tuesday (7/6), 91 very small and small entrepreneurs for the first class of the 2nd Training Trail in Development of Local Suppliers, which is part of the Entrepreneur Territory Program. The event was held in a hybrid format, with about 70 entrepreneurs at the headquarters of the Brazilian Service to Support Very small and Small Business in Ceará (Sebrae-CE) and the others, remotely, through online transmission. In this edition of the program, Individual micro entrepreneur, Very Small (ME) and Small Businesses (EPP) entrepreneurs from all over Ceará participate.

In the program, those attending were welcomed by representatives of CSP, Sebrae and authorities of the state and municipality of São Gonçalo do Amarante. The initial meeting also included a lecture on “Creativity to leverage sales”, given by Bruno Leitão, a university professor with extensive experience in Marketing, Sales and Innovation strategies.

Throughout the months of June, July and August, around 100 hours of online workshops and individual consultations will be given, through six modules: Quality management; Purchasing and Inventory Management; Project management; Financial management; Credit Orientation; and Tips for CSP Suppliers.

Partnerships for new business

The Entrepreneur Territory Program is promoted by CSP in partnership with the Brazilian Very small and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae). At the end of the Training Trail, participants will be able to become suppliers of products and services for companies located in the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém (CIPP) and for other large companies in the state.

CSP’s Community Relations Manager, Cristiane Peres, explains that CSP’s initiative is in line with the company’s vision of becoming a world reference in steel production, with quality, safety and technological and sustainable development. “CSP believes in this commitment to social growth and development, not only in the region where we operate, but also in Ceará as a whole. And this is in our strategic guidelines. We want to contribute to the growth of the region and, for that, CSP needs to be closer and closer to its suppliers”, highlighted Peres

Alice Mesquita, coordinator of the Business Competitiveness unit at Sebrae/CE, celebrates the partnership. “Our idea is that companies can perceive this opportunity they have. Many of them didn’t even know they could supply for CSP. The opportunity we have here is to strengthen these small businesses and prepare them for this emerging market. Very small and small businesses represent more than 90% of the economy. And, in addition to being countless companies, they are also responsible for more than 50% of the jobs generated”, Alice emphasized, about the importance of training.

More jobs and income all over Ceará

Anaksmano Magalhães is from São Gonçalo do Amarante and owns a company in the field of building materials engineering named Concrete Ensaios Tecnológicas. The entrepreneur generates around 40 jobs for people from São Gonçalo, who were selected and trained by him, especially for the company’s sector. Anaksmano is enrolled in the Entrepreneur Territory Program and there are many growth expectations.

“We are taking advantage of this moment and opening the company’s borders to enter the CIPP and be able to provide my services there. The idea is to seek this greater qualification, seek to meet the needs that the Complex has and know what measures I, as a company, have to take in order to qualify and become able to enter there. That is the idea, he said.

The commercial representative Júlio César Júlio César, from the beef and meatpacking plants segment, operates from Fortaleza, and expects expansion with the training he will obtain in the Entrepreneur Territory Program.

“The objective is to leave here qualified and with a very broad direction, learning something new and with a greater vision to adapt to the situation of service for large companies. We are seeing that CSP has needs that today, perhaps, the market does not meet. So, it is qualifying the person who will serve, and with that the person also wins, by being able to serve the rest of the market and large companies like CSP”, approved the entrepreneur.

To strengthen the local economy

The secretary of Entrepreneurship in the municipality of São Gonçalo do Amarante (SGA),Natan Freitas, also participated in the event and celebrated: “The Entrepreneur Territory Program is very important for our municipality. CSP, together with Sebrae, is providing opportunities for these entrepreneurs. And it is the small that moves the economy in the state and in the country. CSP is the main partner of our municipality and has really been transforming the culture of the local entrepreneur in São Gonçalo do Amarante”.

The Executive Secretary for Labor and Entrepreneurship (Sedet) of the Government of the State of Ceará, Kennedy Montenegro,, praised the program and the presence of entrepreneurs. “I consider this activity a priority and very important for small businesses in the state of Ceará. We want to congratulate CSP, Sebrae and all the partners involved in this initiative, and especially the participants. Believe in yourself, believe in your companies and that it is possible, yes, to provide services to large companies like CSP. It is on the Transparency Portal that the state government has already made purchases to small companies, from 2016 on, in the amount of R$ 7 billion. So, believe in your work and participate of these initiatives, you will be the biggest winners. We want to promote the local economy of our state, which deserves and needs so much”, concluded him.
